Now is the time for the Israelites to enter the Promised Land. The nation has been waiting for 40 years. They have changed in that time learning to trust God and growing in their faith.

They have trusted God enough to defeat the Amorite kings and now they stand on the eastern shore of the Jordan River. It is harvest time and the usually lazy stream is now at peak flood stage and it is extremely dangerous.

God has brought the Israelite nation to this point in time. It is not the first time Israel has been in just such a situation. The Red Sea crossing was the first. God had dried up the Sea and they crossed on dry land. Now they will enter the Jordan and the water will recede as they step into the raging waters.

Truly the trust they have in God has matured beyond their fathers. Now they are ready to possess the Canaan Land. Now God is ready to grant them access to the Promised Land.

How blessed they are about to become and how thankful they must be as a result. Our God keeps his promises and grants to each one salvation.

Let us be thankful to God when our life is at flood stage for it is then we have the most to be thankful for.
