In Psalm 85, the psalmist prayed, “Will You not revive us again?” That is the challenge I want to leave with you today. There are times when your spiritual passion grows cold, and one of the first areas to suffer is your desire to share the gospel. You need to ask yourself some honest questions: Have you ever led someone to Christ? When was the last time you spoke to someone about Jesus? If it has been a long time, perhaps it is time for your heart to be revived.
Never forget what is at stake. Jesus said that those who do not believe in Him will die in their sins. Every person you meet has an eternal soul, and God has entrusted you with the responsibility of telling others about Christ. You cannot make someone obey the gospel, but you can faithfully share the good news. Your responsibility is to plant the seed and leave the results to God.
Nothing in this life is more important than salvation. Just as a parachute is the only thing that matters to someone who has jumped from an airplane, Jesus Christ is the only hope for eternal life.
Careers, possessions, and personal achievements all fade away, but people’s souls live forever. That reality should shape your priorities and motivate you to speak about Christ whenever you have the opportunity.
If you are going to teach others, you must first prepare yourself. Spend time studying God’s Word so that you can explain the gospel with confidence. The writer of Hebrews reminds Christians that there comes a time when they should be teachers rather than continually depend on others to teach them. Spiritual maturity means growing in your knowledge of Scripture so that you are ready to help someone seeking the truth.
God also calls you to be faithful in sharing His message. Just as Ezekiel was appointed as a watchman to warn the people, you have the responsibility to speak God’s truth. Paul could say he was innocent of the blood of all men because he faithfully declared the whole counsel of God. People may reject your message, mock your faith, or refuse to listen, but their response is not your responsibility. Your responsibility is to lovingly tell them about Jesus.
Do not allow fear or excuses to silence your witness. Perhaps you feel unqualified, have had disappointing experiences, or worry about saying the wrong thing. God has given you opportunities to grow through Bible study, worship, and fellowship with other believers. Instead of making excuses, continue preparing yourself and trust that God will give you the wisdom and courage you need. Focus less on having the perfect presentation and more on making genuine, caring contact with people who need Christ.
Jesus gave His followers the Great Commission to go into all the world and teach the gospel. That mission has not changed. The church is not simply a gathering place for those who are already saved; it is God’s instrument for reaching those who are lost. Ask yourself when you last invited someone to worship, shared the gospel, or encouraged another person to seek Christ. Heaven and hell are real, and people need to hear the truth.
Today, I encourage you to pray for a revived heart and a renewed passion for evangelism. Let your love for Christ move you to speak boldly, live faithfully, and share the hope of salvation with those around you. As you faithfully proclaim the gospel, trust God to work in the hearts of those who hear His Word and to use your life for His glory.
