I want you to understand something clearly: God is not the source of your temptation—He is the source of your escape. In James 1:12–18, I show you both the danger you face and the hope you have.

I tell you first that a promise is waiting for you. If you endure temptation, if you stay faithful through the struggle, you will receive the crown of life. That promise is real, and it comes from a God who does not lie. Your endurance is not meaningless; it is leading you somewhere eternal.

But I also warn you. Don’t deceive yourself into thinking God is tempting you. He is not. Temptation begins within you, your own desires, your own choices. I want you to see how it works: desire meets opportunity, and if you act on it, sin is born. And if sin is left unchecked, it leads to death, separation from God.

So I’m urging you to interrupt that process.

I want you to change your desires by filling your life with God’s Word. The more you understand His love, His truth, and the consequences of sin, the more your heart begins to shift. I want you to limit your opportunities—stop placing yourself in situations where temptation can easily take hold. And I need you to exercise self-control, trusting that God, through His Spirit, will strengthen you to stand firm.

And when you fall, and there will be moments, you are not without hope. I remind you that you can go to God, ask for forgiveness, and be cleansed through the blood of Jesus. You are never beyond restoration if you turn back to Him.

So now I ask you personally: have you taken advantage of God’s way of escape? Have you obeyed the gospel, the word of truth, and allowed Him to remake you into something new?

If not, I’m asking you, right now, to respond. Don’t delay what God has already made possible for you.
