Our focus this morning is on understanding the profound reason why Jesus Christ came to Earth. For this, let’s turn to John 6:37-40. Here, Jesus expresses the core purpose of His mission: He came to do the will of the Father and to offer salvation and eternal life to all who believe in Him. This theme continues in John 6:44, emphasizing the essential role of faith in receiving eternal life.

The fundamental reason for Jesus’ coming to Earth is rooted in God’s immense love for us. This love is eloquently expressed in John 3:16 and Romans 5:8, where it’s revealed that God’s love led to the ultimate sacrifice: sending His only Son to die for our sins. This act of love was not just a general display but also a deeply personal one, as emphasized in Galatians 2:20. It’s a love that is passionate, abundant, personal, powerful, eternal, and seriously committed to our salvation.

God’s love is passionate in its depth and extent. He gave the very best, His Son, for our redemption. This love is abundant, encompassing all humanity, and is personal, as it applies to each one of us individually. The power of God’s love is evident in its ability to save everyone who comes to Him in faith, and its eternality promises us a future with Him in heaven. But this love is not just a passive gift; it requires a response from us.

As we ponder the seriousness of God’s love, we realize that rejecting Christ is not just turning down a good offer but turning away from eternal life itself. To embrace this love, we need to hear, believe, repent, confess, and be baptized, thus entering into a new life free from sin. This transformative process is beautifully depicted in Romans 6, where baptism is likened to dying and rising anew in Christ.

So, as we reflect on why Jesus came to Earth, let’s remember it’s about more than just understanding a historical fact. It’s about grasping the depth of God’s love for us and responding to it.

Let’s respond to God’s call and embrace the life He offers us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
