Let me speak to you plainly because this is a message I want you to take personally. I’m asking you—are you ready to move on? not just from the things of this world but spiritually. Are you ready to bear the fruit Christ expects of you? The snow can come and go, and seasons can change, but what about your walk with God? Have you grown, or are you standing still?
As we’ve been talking about evangelism, I want you to see how personal this call really is. Jesus came to save the lost. He passed that mission to the apostles, who passed it to the early church, and now it rests in your hands. The mission isn’t just for preachers, leaders, or teachers—it’s for every Christian. It’s for you.
Think about it: a church that does nothing is like a funeral procession, and a church member who does nothing is like a pallbearer. Is that who you want to be? Jesus promised the church would stand forever, and hell itself could not overcome it. But the church is made up of you and me, and we have work to do.
Let’s start with personal work. When was the last time you talked to someone about Christ? The last time you handed someone a tract? When did you last invite someone to church or show them your joy in Jesus? These are things each of us can do. It doesn’t take a seminary degree or special skills—just a willingness to share what Christ has done in your life.
And what about helping those around you? Encouraging new Christians, comforting the faint-hearted, or visiting the sick and shut-ins are all ways to show Christ’s love. You don’t have to be in a pulpit to make a difference. Personal evangelism can happen anywhere: the grocery store, the office, the living room, or the park. It can happen any time, day or night when someone’s heart is open.
You might wonder, “Why me?” Let me tell you why first, because Jesus commands it. Matthew 28:18-20 makes it clear: go and make disciples second because you were created for good works (Ephesians 2:10). Third because it’s one of the greatest joys you can experience—to lead someone to Christ and watch them find salvation.
Look at Jesus’ example. He didn’t just love people in a general way; He reached out to them personally. He sought out the lost, taught them the truth, and showed them the way to eternal life. He calls you to do the same. If you’re not bearing fruit and not sharing His message, you have to ask yourself, what value am I to the Lord?
This is about more than obedience; it’s about love. Do you love God? Do you love Christ? Do you love the people around you enough to tell them the truth? If yes, you’ll share the gospel—not just because you’re commanded to, but because your heart compels you.
So, where are you today? Are you the vine being pruned to bear more fruit or being cut off because it’s barren? The choice is yours. If you’re not yet a member of the Lord’s church, there’s a clear path laid out in Scripture: hear the gospel, believe it, repent of your sins, confess Christ as Lord, and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins. From there, remain faithful, and Jesus promises you the crown of life (Revelation 2:10).
And if you’re already part of the church but you’ve stumbled, don’t let shame or fear keep you from turning back. Go to God in prayer and ask for forgiveness. He’s ready to receive you.
The question now is simple: what will you do? Will you stand still, or will you step forward and bear the fruit Christ is asking of you? It’s time to make a choice. If you have any need—whether to obey the gospel or to seek renewal—don’t wait.
