As I open the Word of God with you, I want you to see what I see when I read from Genesis to Revelation: the entire Bible centers on Jesus. In the Old Testament, I see prophecy after prophecy pointing forward to Him. In the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—I see Him walking on this earth, living, teaching, dying, and rising again. And in the rest of the New Testament, I see a promise that should grip your heart: He is coming again.
I need you to understand that this is not speculation. This is not religious imagination. Jesus Himself said in John 14, “I go to prepare a place for you… And I will come again.” I want you to picture that. I want you to hear Him saying it personally to you. He left this earth, ascended into heaven, and He is preparing a place for the saved. And He promised He will return to receive you to Himself.
Hebrews reminds me, and I want it to remind you, that it is appointed for man to die once, and after this comes judgment. Christ was offered once to bear sins. When He comes again, it will not be to deal with sin a second time. It will be for salvation, for those who are eagerly waiting for Him. That should stir something in you. Are you eagerly waiting?
The angels declared in Acts 1 that He will come back the same way He left. The apostles preached it. John wrote it. Paul affirmed it. Peter warned about it. I cannot ignore the overwhelming testimony of Scripture: Jesus is coming again.
But I also have to warn you. Many have tried to set dates. Many have built doctrines around guesses and speculation. Yet Scripture says He will come like a thief in the night. That means you will not know the hour. There will be no countdown clock. It will be sudden, like labor pains that cannot be postponed. And when that day comes, no one will escape.
When He returns, He will come personally. The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. The dead in Christ will rise. Those who are alive and faithful will be caught up to meet Him in the air. Every eye will see Him. This will not be hidden. This will not be symbolic. It will be real, visible, and undeniable.
I also need to clear away confusion. He is not coming back to establish His kingdom—that kingdom has already been established. He is not coming to sit on David’s throne—He is reigning now at the right hand of God. He is not coming to restore national Israel to a piece of land—that promise was fulfilled long ago.
So why is He coming?
He is coming to raise the dead, both the good and the evil. I want you to hear Jesus’ words: those who have done good will rise to life; those who have done evil will rise to condemnation. That is sobering.
He is coming to judge. The books will be opened. Those who lived under the old covenant will be judged by it. Those under the new covenant will be judged by the New Testament. And the Book of Life will be opened. I cannot help but ask you: will your name be there?
And when judgment is complete, Christ will deliver the kingdom to the Father. Death itself, the last enemy, will be destroyed. God will be all in all.
So I ask you plainly, because I care about your soul: are you ready?
If you are not prepared for His return, the consequence is eternal separation from God. I do not want that for you. That is why I urge you to obey the gospel. Hear the good news of Jesus. Believe it with all your heart. Repent—not just by saying “I’m sorry,” but by changing your life. Confess openly that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Be baptized for the remission of your sins, buried with Him, and raised to walk in newness of life. And then remain faithful until death. He has promised a crown of life to those who endure.
And if you once obeyed but have drifted away, I plead with you, come back. Seek forgiveness. Pray. Restore your relationship with God before it is too late.
He is coming again. I believe it with all my heart. The only question left is this: when He comes, will you be ready?
