I’m excited to share with you a sermon that delves deeply into the teachings and life of Jesus Christ. We begin by exploring 1 John chapter 2, verses 15 and 16, where the dangers of loving the world and the perils of pride are starkly outlined. Pride, as we understand it, can mask our faults from ourselves while exaggerating them to others. In Proverbs chapter 6, Solomon’s words further highlight the destructive nature of pride, which God deeply abhors.

Today, I want to focus on the detrimental effects of pride in our lives. Why does God so vehemently oppose pride, and what makes it so harmful? Pride can cause us to forget our true identity, blind us to our sins, make us judgmental, and hinder our ability to repent. For instance, Jesus, in his parable of the vineyard, illustrates how pride can blind us to our wrongdoings. Similarly, His teachings in Matthew emphasize the need to avoid judgment and embrace humility.

Furthermore, the Book of Acts offers insights into humility through the example of the early disciples who chose to serve rather than be served. This attitude of servitude is crucial, as Paul reminds us in Romans chapter 14, where serving Christ in humility is highly valued by God.

I urge you to reflect on your life. Are you battling the pride of life? Remember, inheriting the Kingdom of God requires humility and obedience to God’s commandments. Today’s invitation is an opportunity for introspection and transformation. Let’s embrace humility and serve as God’s humble servants, for in due time, God will exalt those who live in humility.
