The definition of honor is the simple one provided by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. There is a complete one also listed which has as many as 10 other uses of the word honor. This one will suffices as we wish to present along the lines of honor among people.

What causes certain people to exhibit honor and to be noted as honorable. To some it may be they occupy a high office or any office at all. Still others may be called “your honor” because they have attained a judgeship in some land. Soldiers also are distinguished due to some act performed in combat or some other help extended to one or more people.

While all these are recognized as honorable and well they may be. Let us be concerned with honor as it relates to a creation of God. That is, what does God recognize as honorable in human beings. As is the case with most thing on this earth we may find it very different from mankind’s brand of honor.

The above passage given by Paul shows us the honor due to Epaphroditus. His life was an honorable one as will be ours if we will do likewise. Php 2:29 So take him to your hearts in the Lord with all joy, and give honor to such as he is: BBE Epaphroditus may not have accomplished a great office or been a judge or even been a war hero. But he was counted as honorable, let us do likewise.
